President El-Sisi Meets with PM and Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met today with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, and Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities Dr. Assem El-Gazzar.

The Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency stated that the meeting discussed the status of the Ministry of Housing’s national projects, especially with regard to new cities, and roads, utilities, housing, and services sectors, as well as slum development.

The President directed that new work paths and mechanisms followed to implement national projects during the past years be firmly established outside the traditional bureaucratic scope of planning and implementation. As a result, a considerable actual achievement has been made on the ground at a fast pace and development results have been achieved, thus paving the way for a better future.

With regard to the development and establishment of new cities, the Minister of Housing presented the progress of facilities, establishments and services in the cities of New Assiut, New Aswan, and New Mansoura, as well as the ongoing development work in the City of Assiut.

Moreover, the meeting discussed the progress of construction works in the New Administrative Capital and its residential neighborhoods, as well as the government district, financial and business district, the central district, and the Green River. Housing programs and dorms for workers in Badr City were also touched on.

The Minister of Housing also showed the progress of work in the New Alamein City and the projects it includes, such as the towers, residential neighborhoods, the Heritage City, the Latin Quarter, the recreation area, and residential compounds, as well as Al-Alamein International University (AIU).

The President was also updated on the ongoing projects to develop various neighborhoods and regions in Greater Cairo. These projects include the development of the 6th of October district and Geziret El-Warraq. The comprehensive development of Historic Cairo also comes on top of the list of these projects. This project aims to restore the region’s former glory and civilization and turn it into a sophisticated tourist destination of an ancient architectural character and with integrated services. These projects are carried out particularly in the area of Ain El-Sira Lake, the vicinity of the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization and Al-Fustat Park in Old Cairo.

In addition to these projects, there are ongoing development works carried out in the area of Al-Madabegh, Sour Magra el Oyoun and the Maspero Triangle. Moreover, it was noted that Ahl Misr Walkway project which overlooks the Nile is currently being established.

In this context, President El-Sisi directed the officials concerned to develop Al-Fustat Park in Old Cairo and increase the green areas.

Dr. El-Gazzar also presented the efforts made by the Ministry of Housing in the sector of water treatment and desalination plants across Egypt. He also showcased the ongoing projects aiming to provide housing units that are alternative to slums. In this regard, the President directed all concerned authorities to develop follow-up and community development programs that target citizens who move from the slum areas to these new residential units.

The meeting also discussed the Ministry of Housing’s projects pertaining to the development of Upper Egypt. Moreover, the ministry’s role regarding the services provided within the framework of the national project for the development of Egyptian, especially in the sectors of roads, axes, drinking water and sanitation, was further discussed.
