Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Prime Minister Dr. Mustafa Madbouly and Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Engineer Tarek El-Molla.
The Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency stated that, during the meeting, the plans and efforts of the Ministry of Petroleum in developing various sectors, especially mineral resources, petrochemicals, and gas production and distribution, were presented.
In this regard, the President gave directives for setting a comprehensive strategic vision for the development of the mining sector in Egypt. As a result, significant mineral deposits will be explored nationwide. Furthermore, the mining sector will further contribute to increasing the national product, thus supporting the state’s comprehensive development-related steps.
The Spokesman stated that Eng. Tarek El-Molla presented the developments of the refining and petrochemical projects nationwide, particularly in the Gulf of Suez region. The natural gas system development efforts, in terms of production and consumption, were also discussed. Greater integration of smart meter system has been promoted in coordination with the competent authorities, especially the Ministry of Military Production. The gradual vehicle conversion to natural gas in accordance with the national project for converting gasoline public transport vehicles to run on gas, was also tackled.
The President emphasized on making the most of natural gas production and increasing its domestic use as part of the state's development process of gas energy services system.
During the meeting, the Minister of Petroleum also presented the recent exploration of gold in the "Iqat" Mountain in the Eastern Desert, which would open new horizons in the exploration of mineral resources in Egypt.
