President El-Sisi Meets with PM and Minister of Supply and Internal Trade

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met today with Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly and Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Dr. Ali El-Meselhy.

The Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency stated that the meeting addressed the developments of the situation regarding the strategic stocks of basic food commodities during the next six months and the government's efforts to provide them to citizens.

The President directed the Ministry of Supply to continue adopting the plan to enhance efforts to provide basic commodities and boost strategic reserves, which was implemented amid the coronavirus pandemic, to be ready for any possible second coronavirus wave and to provide the needed commodities in appropriate quantities and prices to citizens. Commodities are also made available at government and supply outlets nationwide.

The President also emphasized the importance of selecting the best locations for silos based on proximity to roads, hubs and distribution outlets to facilitate their task in storing strategic goods. Taking into account the modern infrastructure that Egypt enjoys in this field nationwide was also underlined.

The Ministry of Supply's plans to develop a number of food industry companies, especially "Qaha" and "Edfina" companies, were also reviewed, in order to restore their distinguished production with the aim of enhancing the value of the national product in the local market, increasing its competitiveness, and maximizing export opportunities.

The President also emphasized on developing the system of bakeries nationwide through automating the work cycle and modernizing logistical processes with the aim of improving production quality, reducing waste, and developing service for citizens.
