President El-Sisi Meets Prime Minister, Minister and Deputy Minister of Agriculture

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Prime Minister, Dr. Moustafa Madbouly. The meeting was also attended by Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Al-Sayed El-Quseir, and Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Mostafa El-Sayyad.

The meeting followed up on a number of projects by the ministry of agriculture, pertinent to Egyptian agricultural exports, livestock development and fisheries as well as dairy collection centers.

The Spokesman for the Presidency noted that the Minister of Agriculture reviewed the status of Egyptian agricultural exports, which include 350 diverse agricultural products exported to more than 150 countries worldwide. They recorded an increase rate estimated at around 14% compared to last year’s amount of agricultural products exported. The Minister reported that Egypt ranks first globally in citrus export.

The Minister of Agriculture offered an overview of the new automation and coding system for farms nationwide. This aims to prepare a detailed digital map for export farms across the republic that provides a full database by using the latest means. This includes raising the coordinates using GPS technology, in addition to providing technical recommendations for sound agricultural practices, as well as standards of countries importing all Egyptian agricultural crops

The Minister of Agriculture noted that the agricultural production sector has proved resilience and flexibility during the coronavirus pandemic. This was demonstrated in Egypt’s classification as one of the few countries in the world whose agricultural production has not been affected since the outbreak of the virus to date.

The meeting also reviewed the production of fisheries and making use of Egypt’s lakes, especially Manzala and Bardawil.

With regard to livestock production, President El-Sisi issued directives for the expansion of raising breeds of heavy milk and meat production due to their economic return, in integration with efforts to develop the Egyptian countryside within the framework of the “Decent Life” Initiative.

The President also directed the Ministry of Agriculture to develop its assets of parks and gardens especially in Greater Cairo, in cooperation with foreign expertise in this field, especially management and operation with the aim of developing and making the best use of these assets.
