This evening, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi spoke by phone with the President of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa.
The Spokesman for the Presidency stated that President El-Sisi offered his sincere condolences for the victims of the floods that recently hit the city of Durban, causing losses of life and possessions.
The President expressed his sincere wishes for the speedy recovery of the injured and affirmed full confidence in the ability of the government and people of South Africa to face the flood repercussions. The President added that Egypt stands in solidarity with its brothers in South Africa during these hard times and is ready to offer assistance within the continued humanitarian relief efforts.
The president of South Africa expressed his deep appreciation for the President's kind gesture, which demonstrates the keeness of both the government and people of Egypt to reinforce fraternity,solidarity and support between brothers, also commensurate with the special relations that bind the two countries.
In this context, he confirmed his country's interest to activate and develop cooperation with Egypt, in light of its active role in Africa and relevant efforts that shall fulfil aspirations of the continent's peoples for stability and development.
The Spokesman added that the call reviewed means to continue momentum that bilateral relations have gained across various fields. This is in addition to exchanging views on regional issues of mutual interest and discussing the repercussions of the Russia-Ukraine crisis on Africa.
