Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received the CEOs of a number of Belgian companies, namely DEME dredging company, Port of Antwerp, and Fluxys, at his residence in Brussels. The meeting was attended by the Commander of the Strategic Command, Vice Admiral Ahmed Khaled Hassan Said, the Egyptian ambassador in Brussels, and a number of the aforementioned companies’ officials.
The Spokesman for the Presidency stated that the meeting followed-up on cooperation in the field of green hydrogen production for power generation.
President El-Sisi emphasized Egypt's national strategy to enhance the uses of alternative fuels and shift to green and clean energy, with a focus on the production of green hydrogen in cooperation with foreign partners, and in accordance with Egypt's 2030 vision for sustainable development. President El-Sisi looked forward to the entrance and operation of Belgian companies in the Egyptian market, in this field, as a long-standing and reliable international partner. This is in order to maximize the state’s benefits through diversifying energy sources, transferring knowledge, training cadres, and encouraging local industries.
From their side, members of the Belgian companies alliance expressed their honor to meet the President and their appreciation of Egypt’s keenness to attract foreign direct investments in the field of new and renewable energy generation as the future of this field. This is especially due to the Egyptian government providing many investment incentives to increase green hydrogen production, as well as Egypt’s enjoyment of natural and geographical characteristics and components, making them ideal for the success of this approach. They affirmed their keenness to cooperate with Egypt in this field within the framework of commitment to the global goals of protecting the environment and combating global warming, as well as helping Egypt to exploit its diverse natural resources in the best way for the benefit of development uses.
