President El-Sisi Receives President of Guinea-Bissau at Al-Ittihadiya Palace

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received today President of Guinea-Bissau Umaro Sissoco Embaló at Al-Ittihadiya Palace, where the reception ceremony was held, the two national anthems were played, and the guard of honor was reviewed.

The Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency stated that during the meeting both presidents held discussions, followed by expanded talks between the delegations of the two countries. President El-Sisi welcomed his brother President Embaló, a dear guest in Egypt. His Excellency President El-Sisi praised the historical relations between Egypt and Guinea-Bissau and affirmed that this visit represents an important opportunity to strengthen bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries, especially in light of Guinea-Bissau’s significance in the West African region.

The President also affirmed Egypt's readiness to strengthen bilateral cooperation with Guinea-Bissau at all levels to support its development efforts, especially regarding trade exchange, investment and infrastructure development. Moreover, His Excellency stressed Egypt’s keenness to receive cadres from Guinea to participate in capacity-building and technical support programs that are supervised by the Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development (EAPD) in different fields, according to the needs of the Guinean side.

President Embaló expressed his sincere thanks and profound appreciation for the warm reception and generous hospitality. He affirmed his country's mutual aspiration to develop bilateral relations with Egypt at various levels, especially trade exchange, inflows of direct Egyptian investment, technical support, and joint security and military coordination.

In this regard, President Embaló commended the inspiring Egyptian experience and its pivotal role in contributing to achieving comprehensive development, economic growth, and maintaining peace and security in the continent. This is done by sharing the various Egyptian experiences and harnessing their distinguished potentials.

The Spokesman stated that the latest developments in Guinea-Bissau were discussed; the President expressed that Egypt welcomes the developments taking place in Guinea-Bissau under the leadership of President Embaló. President El-Sisi stressed that Egypt is ready is to provide all possible means of support to consolidate stability in Guinea-Bissau and to support the country in various continental and international fora. This support signals Egypt’s keenness to establish the foundations of stability and security and to promote the path to development in this brotherly country.

The meeting also discussed developments related to a number of continental files. It was agreed to continue consultation and joint coordination on the developments of these files, including efforts made to combat terrorism, extremist ideology and illegal immigration in Africa as well as the situation in the West African region.

At the conclusion of the discussions, the two presidents held a joint press conference; the President delivered a speech on this occasion.
