President El-Sisi Receives Advisor to President of the DRC

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received today Advisor to the President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) Mr. Jean-Claude Kabongo, in the presence of Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Sameh Shoukry and the Ambassador of the Democratic Republic of the Congo to Cairo. Mr. Kabongo handed over a message from President Félix Tshisekedi to President El-Sisi.

The Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency stated that, in the message, President Tshisekedi expressed the DRC's support for Egypt’s position with regard to dealing with the Renaissance Dam issue, as well as its aspiration to develop bilateral relations with Egypt and to benefit from its experience in the field of infrastructure and major development projects.

For his part, President El-Sisi expressed his appreciation for the position of the DRC in support of Egypt with regard to Nile water issues. He stressed that Egypt extends a helping hand to the Democratic Republic of the Congo and to all African countries for cooperation, construction, development and peace. Thereby, the considerable potentials and rich resources that the Congo and all friendly African countries possess will be made use of in an optimal economic manner for the good of the current and future generations of the African peoples.

President El-Sisi affirmed Egypt's pride in the distinguished cooperative relations with the DRC in various fields and keenness to support it in the various development and technical fields. He also emphasized the importance of increasing the trade rates between the two countries and promoting the distinguished political bilateral relations. His Excellency asked that his greetings be conveyed to President Félix Tshisekedi.

Mr. Kabongo also said that the President of the DRC praised the Egyptian stances in support of the DRC in all international and regional fora and the support Egypt offers, the latest of which is the medical and pharmaceutical aid that was sent to help the people of the Congo deal with the spread of coronavirus.
