President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met, today, with President of the Republic of Iraq Barham Salih in Baghdad.
The Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency stated that the Iraqi President welcomed President El-Sisi's visit to Baghdad, stressing his profound appreciation for him personally.
President Barham also stressed Iraq's keenness to continue intensive coordination and consultation with Egypt at all levels, in light of the strong relations and ties between the two countries and the Egypt’s pivotal role in the region which is supportive to Iraq. This, in turn, would help the Arab nation face the common challenges.
For his part, President El-Sisi affirmed that Egypt takes pride in its historical relations with Iraq and is keen to strengthen its Arab national role.
His Excellency also expressed Egypt keenness to provide full support to the Iraqi people in all areas, whether at the bilateral level or within the framework of the tripartite cooperation mechanism with Jordan.
The Spokesman added that the meeting discussed the overall joint bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries as well as ways to enhance areas of economic, trade and investment cooperation.
The meeting also tackled the status of the projects that have been agreed upon under the tripartite cooperation mechanism with Jordan.
