Mohamed Morsi

• He was born in Sharkia on August 8, 1951.
• He earned his Bachelor Degree in Engineering in 1975 from Cairo University with straight A’s. He received his master’s degree in 1978.
• He got a scholarship to the University of Southern California and received a PhD in Engineering in 1982.
• He became an Assistant Professor in the University of Southern California and the head of materials engineering department in Zagazig University (1985-2010).
• He ran for the parliamentary elections representing the Muslim Brotherhood and became the Muslim Brotherhood spokesman in the Parliament.
• The Muslim Brotherhood party (Freedom and Justice) nominated him to the presidential elections in 2012.
• On June 24, 2012, the Egyptian Presidential Election Commission officially declared Mohamed Morsi the new president-elect.
• His term of office lasted until July 3, 2013 when he was ousted from power after June 30 Revolution took place.
• He passed away on June 17, 2019.
