Order of the Virtues

It was established by law no. 528/1953 that was later replaced by law no. 12/1972.
The Order may be granted to women who provide valuable services to the nation or to humanity. The Medal is of four classes: Supreme, First, Second, and Third.
The Supreme Class of the medal shall be given to the world’s first ladies, and it may also be granted to the spouses of the crown princes or vice-presidents. The First Class of the medal shall be granted to the spouses of prime ministers, ministers and those in their positions. The Second Class of the medal shall be given to the spouses of the ambassadors and others.
The Supreme Class of the medal is a medallion hanged on the left side of the chest. It is studded with red sapphires, turquoise and blue sapphires. The Supreme Class is covered by a 8-centimeter-wide sash of gray silk with two yellow golden welts. At the end of the sash, there is a smaller medallion studded with red sapphires.
The First Class of the medal is similar to the Supreme one, with the sole exception that it is not studded with sapphires and turquoise.
The Second and Third Classes of the medal are hanged on the left side of the chest by a knotted ribbon that is f 3.1 cm in width. The medallion is similar to that of the First Class but smaller in size.
