It was established by law no. 528/1953 that was later replaced by law no. 12/1972.
It is one of the President’s competencies. It is granted to the heads of ministries and to Egyptians and foreigners who offer Egypt exceptional services. It is hanged by a wide sash of blue silk with two yellow golden welts. Those who are granted the order shall receive it directly from the President of the Republic as long as it is possible.
Those who receive it shall be saluted upon their death.
The grantees shall hang the medallion on their left chest and the sash from right to left. At the end of the sash, there is a decoration similar to the medallion, but it is smaller in size. Attached to the sash is a clip with Pharaonic decorations.
The medallion is a five-pointed sun, emanating from it gilded silver rays. Fixed from above is a gold disc with a blue enamel and Pharaonic decorations. In the middle, there is a protruding Pharaonic figure representing the Nile River and on the right and left sides there are two statues representing upper and lower Egypt.
