The 'Unified Card' System for Subsidies

The activation of the "Unified Card" System for Subsidies has begun in Port Said Governorate, in cooperation between the Ministries of Communications and Information Technology and Supply and Internal Trade.

The Unified Card project is an important step towards strengthening the State's efforts to build a digital economy and utilize information technology to facilitate citizens' access to government services, simplify procedures related to obtaining and managing government subsidies. The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has established the necessary and appropriate infrastructure for the system, provided qualified technical personnel for its implementation and security, and ensured complete technical supervision of the project.

The application of the Unified Card system for dispensing supply subsidies comes within the framework of moving towards mechanizing services and enhancing transparency. The system is based on providing a package of services to citizens through a single smart card, as a replacement for the current supply subsidy cards. This aims to guarantee that subsidies are directed to the eligible recipients and to promote the financial inclusion system. The Unified Card contributes to adding flexibility to the subsidy system and ensuring the governance of citizens' access to various subsidies and government services.

The implementation of the new system includes updating the beneficiary database, according to the proposed criteria for social justice and subsidy eligibility reached by the Ministerial Committee for Social Justice. Additionally, work is underway to develop an electronic application for the system, which will allow citizens to register, update their data, and receive periodic notifications about operations related to their subsidy eligibility.
