Egypt's Islamic Cultural Center in the New Administrative Capital embraces Masjid Misr or the Grand Mosque. The mosque is the largest in Egypt and the world’s third largest, in terms of size, after the two Holy Mosques.

The mosque is built on a plateau, covering an area of 476-thousand square meters. It can accommodate up to 137-thousand worshippers and has a main corridor on a 2050 square meter area.

It encompasses the following:

Two minarets, each with a height of 148 meters. This is in addition to the dome, with a height of 30 meters and a weight of 500 tons. It is one of the 10 largest domes in the world.

The mosque has 3 entrances. Each entrance has 3 doors, each one is 6 meters high. The doors are handmade from wood with copper fillings.

At the center of the mosque stands the epitome of Islamic architectural brilliance, the "Grand Chandelier," with a diameter of 22 meters and a height of 22 meters.

All the walls are made of natural marble with Islamic ornaments. The names of Allah the Almighty are inscribed on the domes of the mosque, using the finest types of gold-inlaid ornaments. The wooden ceilings are made of Aru wood, rising to a height of 19 meters. The ceilings are adorned with decorations from all Islamic eras, illuminated by chandeliers made of copper plated with gold.

The mosque has 38 3D speakers.

The mosque is surrounded by 30-thousand square meters of white marble, which brings together all classes of people for prayers, holidays, and occasions, and welcomes scholars and worshippers from all over the world.

Two arcades surround the mosque from the east and west, filled with elevators and escalators to facilitate the access of worshippers to the mosque's square.

"The Sabil Building" (Water Dispensary) contains 24 cold water taps to serve the mosque's visitors.

Four halls for events and holidays, equipped with services. They accommodate hundreds of individuals, including a hall for VIP visitors, making this Islamic Center a hub for celebrations and occasions.

A shopping center and shops on an area of 8,872 square meters to serve worshippers, visitors, and scholars from all over the world.

The Imam's Minbar:

(The place where the imam ascends to the congregation during the sermon)

It is considered one of the largest wooden pulpits in the world. It was handcrafted from the finest types of wood with a strong, natural, aromatic scent. It consists of 40 steps and stands at a height of 15.5 meters.

The Quran House:

Covering an area of 6,500 square meters, it consists of 30 rooms, each dedicated to one of the Holy Quran’s 30 parts. Each room has an entire part of the Quran carved on it by Egyptian hands with clear calligraphy and diacritics for reading and memorizing the Quran from the walls. Every room is equipped with devices for listening to the Quran, allowing visitors to choose the reciter.

It also houses the "Noble Ottoman Quran," the most precious gift to the Quran House. It weighs 80 kg and comprises 1,087 pages, written in the ancient Kufic script without diacritics, vocalization, or division into chapters and quarters.

The project received the Award of Merit, in the Culture and Worship Projects category, at the ENR Global Best Projects Awards 2022.
