The station has been successfully energized, commissioned, and synchronized with the National Electricity Grid. The New Zagazig Substation operates with a 500 kV capacity of 1500 MVA, a 66/220 kV capacity of 525 MVA, and an 11/66 kV capacity of 200 MVA.
The station was established as part of the state’s comprehensive and sustainable development plan being implemented across all governorates. It aligns with the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy’s action program to support, develop, modernize, and reinforce the unified national grid. These projects aim to accommodate increased loads and new generation capacities, ensuring the necessary power supply for all sectors, improving supply quality, and maintaining constant coordination between the transmission, production, and distribution sectors. This is in order to elevate service levels and enhance the electrical system's efficiency in preparation for the summer season.
The new station feeds several existing substations, including Old Zagazig, Bahtim, Minya El-Qamh, Mashtool El-Souq, Kafr Shukr, Hehia, and Horriya. This project is a key component of the strategic plan to regulate grid voltages and ensure the continuity and stability of the electrical current, particularly during peak summer demand.
