Inauguration of the Customs Building at Tahya Misr Multi-Purpose Terminal, Alexandria Port

The Joint Inspection Committees Building (Customs Building) has been inaugurated at the Tahya Misr Multi-Purpose Terminal (TMT) in Alexandria Port. This facility aims to enhance the efficiency of customs and logistical operations, while providing premium services at Tahya Misr Terminal, further solidifying its position as one of Egypt’s most vital national maritime transport projects.

The building is designed to accommodate all relevant authorities, including inspection, detection, and survey teams, as well as regulatory bodies, food safety agencies, and export/import control authorities as well as other agencies.

The building features 14 windows for direct interaction with customs brokers, along with 4 windows overlooking the terminal’s inspection yard.

Interior waiting areas accommodate over 40 individuals, with exterior waiting spaces for more than 20 people.

An automated queuing system has been implemented to ensure organized and seamless movement for all visitors.

This building enables the terminal to handle larger volumes of cargo by accelerating inspection and customs clearance processes and providing a centralized hub for various regulatory bodies. These improvements offer the terminal a competitive advantage, reduce container dwell times, and provide better facilities for companies and trucking firms. Ultimately, this supports trade expansion—particularly amidst the expected growth in global trade and shipping—by making customs operations more flexible and efficient. This reflects positively on the terminal's performance and efficiency.
