It is an 11 km-long traffic corridor and part of the development plan set for Eastern Cairo region. The corridor is of vital importance as it connects Mostorod area with all the main western and eastern roads of the Republic; it is now connected to Cairo-Suez, Cairo-Ismailia, and Cairo-Alexandria desert and agricultural roads.
The axis starting point is Ibn Al-Hakam Square in Gesr El-Suez District, passing through El-Matareya Square Bridge then Shubra/Banha Freeway and servicing El-Matareya, Mostorod and Bahtim areas to reduce traffic jams.
3 other bridges were constructed to link El-Tagneed Axis with Shubra/Banha Freeway with a total length of 11 kms as following:
• Omar El-Mokhtar Street Overpass: A two-way 500 m-long and 20 m-wide overpass, comprising 3 lanes per direction
• Bahtim Street Overpass: A 500 m-long, 20 m-wide overpass, comprising 3 traffic lanes
• Banha Freeway Overpass: A 650 m-long, 16 m-wide overpass.
