"Al-Galala" FREMM Bergamini-Class Frigate

“Al-Galala” frigate is one of the two FREMM frigates. This multi-mission frigate can sail 6000 nautical miles, and it enjoys many technical and modern armament systems that allow it to perform all combat duties in the sea in times of peace and war. Hence, this frigate is considered a major technological breakthrough that adds to the capabilities of the Egyptian Navy, thus helping the Egyptian naval forces to secure maritime borders and shipping lines, supporting and protecting ground forces along the coast during defence and/or attack operations, and protecting the state’s natural resources in the Mediterranean and Red seas.

The specialized and technical teams were trained on the new frigate in a record time based on a set schedule and program that was implemented in two stages in Egypt and Italy. The Egyptian navy crew exerted intense efforts during their training on all cutting-edge technologies to be capable of executing all missions assigned to them by the General Command of the Armed Forces in an efficient and competent manner.

The new frigate is among the most advanced units in the Egyptian Navy, as it represents the nation’s deterrent force to maintain peace, provide freedom of navigation, and support the security of the Suez Canal in light of the hostilities and challenges afflicting the region.
