President El-Sisi Follows Up on National Projects Carried Out by the Ministry of Electricity

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met today with Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Dr. Mohamed Shaker, and Presidential Advisor for Urban Planning Major General Amir Sayed Ahmed.

The Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency stated that the meeting discussed the national projects that are carried out by the Ministry of Electricity across Egypt.

Dr. Shaker presented the plans concerning the electrical loads and steps for developing the power distribution system for the development communities in Sinai.

In this context, the President directed the officials concerned to comply with the timetable to implement these plans in Sinai.

The electricity sector is an integral part in the development process in these areas, particularly with regard to the projects of the agricultural sector. These projects contribute to creating integrated communities in Sinai and promoting the efforts of implementing electrical interconnection projects with neighboring countries.

During the meeting, Ministry of Electricity’s plan set out to cooperate with specialized foreign companies to produce green hydrogen energy from renewable energy was also presented.

These steps support the State’s efforts to expand in the areas of clean and renewable energy. His Excellency affirmed that the main purpose of this project is to diversify the sources of electrical energy and make use of Egypt’s natural wealth. One of the goals is to produce, use, and export green hydrogen and provide training programs to local cadres in this field with the help of specialized expertise from technological universities in Egypt.

President El-Sisi was also update on the status of the electrical infrastructure in the New Administrative Capital (NAC) including transformer stations and all of the medium-voltage networks that have been finalized in different neighborhoods.

The efforts made to extend power lines and high-voltage pressure cable tunnels to the different neighborhoods in NAC, particularly the government district as well as state-of-the-art residential areas, were also presented.

The main circuits connecting the transformer stations were implemented to provide the power needed for the first phase of the New Administrative Capital, including the backup power supply.

According to the Spokesman, the Minister of Electricity presented the efforts to improve electricity services nationwide. Dr. Shaker stressed that the efforts made to develop and modernize the electricity sector contributed to improving the capacity of the national network and helped it absorb the expected increase in consumption during the summer season.

This sector witnessed a comprehensive development process in which the efficiency of transmission networks, distribution systems, and control centers has been improved.
