President El-Sisi Meets PM, Minister of Finance, Minister of Planning and Economic Development

Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Finance Mr. Ahmed Kouchouk, and Minister of Planning and Economic Development Dr. Ahmed Rostom.

Spokesman for the Presidency Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy stated that the meeting addressed the government’s ongoing efforts to implement the economic reform program. Emphasis was placed on the importance of continuing fiscal reform measures to ensure financial and economic stability, stimulate private sector growth, and maintain economic activity, production, manufacturing, and exports through balanced and investment-friendly fiscal policies. The discussion also highlighted the need to advance participatory development planning in all its aspects and mechanisms, in order to ensure the efficiency of public investment and maximize the impact of development projects, initiatives, and programs in line with “Egypt Vision 2030.”

The meeting reviewed the government’s intensive efforts to finalize Egypt’s vision for the post-agreement phase with the International Monetary Fund. The importance of formulating a national economic development program was underscored, ensuring the competitiveness of the Egyptian economy and the sustainability of economic conditions. The meeting also addressed accelerating the implementation of the comprehensive health insurance system, as well as expediting the implementation of the presidential initiative for the development of the Egyptian countryside “Decent Life Initiative” as a priority within the investment plan.

The meeting also tackled the negative impacts of the ongoing regional war on supply chains, global trade movement, financial markets, and essential commodities. It was emphasized that coordination among relevant ministries and authorities will continue to ensure market stability and maintain strategic reserves of essential goods at safe levels.

The spokesman also noted that a proposal on entrepreneurship and innovation was reviewed, involving the development of a comprehensive vision and an executive program to enhance the entrepreneurship conditions, with the aim of rapidly supporting startups and entrepreneurial ventures within the framework of launching new employment initiatives.

President El-Sisi stressed the need to improve the economic situation and ensure that this is reflected in citizens’ quality of life, increase private sector participation in economic activity, and expand into new sectors to support the economy. The President also emphasized the importance of diversifying sources of financing for development and infrastructure projects, engaging with regional and international development initiatives and efforts, and supporting climate action and the transition toward a green economy.
