Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Prime Minister Dr. Moustafa Madbouly, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Eng. Karim Badawi, and Minister of Industry Eng. Khaled Hashem.

The Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, said the meeting addressed a number of files that require coordination between the Ministry of Petroleum and the Ministry of Industry. These include efforts to enhance regional cooperation in the energy sector, as well as plans for industrial expansion, deepening local manufacturing, and increasing the value-added of national production.

Eng. Badawi reviewed the key outcomes of the Egypt Mining Forum and noted that the participants welcomed the President’s interest in the sector and his directives to overcome any challenges facing investment in this field.
He also reviewed the performance of the petroleum sector and its impact on economic growth for the 2025/2026 fiscal year, alongside updates on exploration and production activities for crude oil, condensates, and natural gas, as well as new discoveries and reserve additions.

Additionally, the Minister of Petroleum presented international commendations regarding the achievements of Egypt’s oil and gas sector, and highlighted the ongoing cooperation between the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources and the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade to promote oil and gas projects and attract domestic and foreign investment in the sector.

For his part, the Minister of Industry reviewed updates to localize supporting and complementary industries in Egypt—foremost among them refractories and alloys sectors, as well as engineering and casting industries. The meeting also covered ways to maximize the domestic utilization of scrap metal and efforts to attract industrial investments linked to this sector.

Furthermore, he outlined steps taken by the state to deepen the steel industry in Egypt, expand the processing of local raw materials, and maximize their economic value.

The meeting addressed the issue of land allocated for industrial zones. President El-Sisi stressed the importance of taking the necessary measures to reclaim vacant, unutilized industrial plots, thereby ensuring the optimal use of land designated for industrial development.

The meeting also reviewed efforts to enhance industrial cooperation with African countries and the EU, thus supporting the state's objectives of boosting production and exports while facilitating technology transfer.

President El-Sisi underscored the need to continue streamlining procedures for establishing new factories in priority sectors—in alignment with the state's industrial strategy—alongside intensified efforts to attract foreign direct investment into the industrial sector and accelerate the localization of various industries to enhance the national economy's productive capacity and competitiveness.
