Today in El Alamein City, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Dr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, on the sidelines of “Alamein Africa Business Forum”.
Spokesman for the Presidency Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy said President El-Sisi welcomed the Somali President, expressing his appreciation for his participation in the Forum. The President lauded the remarkable progress in Egyptian-Somali relations, particularly since their elevation to the level of a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in January 2025.
President El-Sisi affirmed Egypt’s steadfast position in support of Somalia's sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity, emphasizing Egypt’s commitment to providing various forms of support to Somalia, to help enhance the capacities of the Somali state, consolidate security and stability, and achieve the aspirations of the brotherly Somali people.
Somali President Dr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud expressed his appreciation for President El-Sisi’s keenness on maintaining continuous consultation and coordination with his country. He stressed Somalia's pride in the historic and fraternal ties binding the two countries, commending Egypt’s support to Somalia across the various political, security, and developmental levels. Somalia’s President also lauded Egypt’s efforts, under President El-Sisi’s leadership, to preserve Somalia's unity and territorial integrity, support its national state institutions, and back ongoing endeavors to restore security and stability in the country.
During their meeting, the two Presidents discussed internal developments in Somalia. President El-Sisi emphasized the importance of enhancing national consensus among the various Somali factions and components in order to support state unity, maintain the country’s stability, and safeguard it against security challenges. President El-Sisi also confirmed Egypt’s persistent support for Somalia and its national institutions, stemming from the fraternal ties and shared interests uniting the two countries.
President El-Sisi and the Somali President also exchanged views on regional developments of mutual concern. They agreed on the importance of continued coordination and consultation between Egypt, Somalia, and regional states regarding issues related to the security and stability of the Horn of Africa, the Gulf of Aden, the Bab al-Mandab Strait, and the Red Sea, thereby contribute to enhancing regional security and safeguarding the interests of the region's countries and peoples.
