Today in El Alamein City, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received Founder and President of the Dangote Group, the largest business conglomerate in West Africa, and Chairman of the Africa Business Leaders Initiative, Mr. Aliko Dangote. The meeting, held on the sidelines of "Alamein Africa Business Forum”, was attended by Prime Minister, Dr. Moustafa Madbouly, and Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptian Expatriates, Dr. Badr Abdelatty.
Spokesman for the Presidency Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy stated that the President welcomed Mr. Dangote’s visit to Egypt and his participation in the Forum, lauding his notable contributions to supporting economic development and industrialization efforts across the African continent. The President commended the successes and regional and international expansion achieved by the Dangote Group across the cement, fertilizer, energy, and food processing sectors, which have contributed to enhancing productive and industrial capacities in numerous African countries.
President El-Sisi expressed Egypt's pride in Mr. Dangote's distinguished professional career as an alumnus of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif University. The President confirmed that this embodies the profound historical and cultural ties binding African peoples and reflects a successful model for integration and cooperation among the continent's nations. President El-Sisi also reaffirmed Egypt's commitment to empowering the African private sector as a principal partner in achieving sustainable development across the continent and advancing the goals of the African Union's Agenda 2063.
The meeting explored potential areas of cooperation between the Dangote Group and the Government of Egypt in the energy, fertilizer, chemical, and cement sectors, in light of Egypt's integrated economic assets and modern infrastructure that qualify it to play a pivotal role as a regional energy and industrial hub.
For his part, Mr. Dangote looked forward to receiving Egypt’s support for the Group's investments in Egypt. President El-Sisi welcomed the possibility of the Group establishing investments in Egypt and confirmed the State's readiness to provide all necessary facilitations in this regard, thereby contribute to strengthening economic and investment cooperation between the two sides.
