Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi co-chaired the summit of the founding states of the African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD), held in New Alamein, alongside the President of the Republic of Angola, João Lourenço.
The Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, said the summit was attended by leaders and representatives of the AUDA-NEPAD founding nations: Egypt, Algeria, Nigeria, Senegal, and South Africa, in addition to the President of Burundi in his capacity as the current Chairperson of the African Union, the President of Angola as the current Chairperson of the Agency's Heads of State and Government Orientation Committee, representatives of the African Union Commission, and the CEO of AUDA-NEPAD.
The summit addressed ways to strengthen the Agency's role in supporting development efforts across the African continent and mobilizing the resources necessary for development projects. The summit also covered monitoring progress on the implementation of the African Union’s Agenda 2063 and enhancing coordination among African nations to face shared economic and developmental challenges.
President El-Sisi delivered the summit's opening address.
The summit included the discussion and adoption of a final declaration. The President also delivered a closing address at the conclusion of the summit.
