Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi inaugurated the first edition of the “Alamein–Africa Business Forum,” hosted by the Arab Republic of Egypt in New Alamein City.

Spokesman for the Presidency Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, stated that the forum is the outcome of an Egyptian initiative endorsed by the African Union, with the forum to be held every two years in El Alamein City. It is jointly organized by the Egyptian government, the African Union Commission, the African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD), and the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank).

The inaugural edition of the forum is being held with high-level participation, including a number of African heads of state and senior continental officials, as well as leading figures from international and regional financial institutions and private-sector leaders from Africa and across the globe.

The forum serves as a strategic platform for strengthening communication and partnerships among African governments, private-sector representatives, and entrepreneurs from within and outside the continent. This contributes to maximizing the role of the private sector in advancing comprehensive and sustainable development efforts in Africa and accelerating the implementation of the objectives of the African Union’s Agenda 2063. The forum also aims to stimulate intra-African trade, foster economic integration among the countries of the continent, mobilize the partnerships required to implement development projects, expand financing and investment opportunities, and support promising and emerging economic sectors.

The first edition of the forum includes a number of specialized sessions addressing key economic and development issues of priority to the African continent. It also features an exhibition for major African companies, as well as a dedicated area for start-ups, with broad participation by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from various African countries. The forum’s activities also include numerous bilateral and multilateral meetings among government officials, corporate leaders, and representatives of financial and economic institutions, thereby bolstering opportunities for cooperation, investment, and cross-border partnerships.

The forum’s opening session featured remarks by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptian Expatriates; the President of the African Export-Import Bank; the Chief Executive Officer of the African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD); the Chairperson of the African Union Commission; a prominent African business leader; and the President of the Republic of Burundi, current Chairperson of the African Union. In this context, President El-Sisi delivered a speech.

Following the conclusion of the forum’s opening session, President El-Sisi and African heads of state and delegation leaders toured the economic exhibition held on the sidelines of the forum. During the tour, they were briefed on the key programs and projects being implemented by the exhibitors to achieve continental integration. They also visited the pavilion of the African Export-Import Bank, the pavilion of the African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD), and the pavilion of the Arab Republic of Egypt.
