Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi participated in the BRICS Heads of State and Government Summit held in the Indian capital, New Delhi.
Spokesman for the Presidency Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy stated that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed the President at the Bharat Mandapam Convention Centre, the venue of the summit, where a commemorative photograph was taken of the two leaders.
President El-Sisi then participated in the closed session of the heads of delegation of member states, themed: "Inclusive Global Governance and Strengthening Multilateral Action".
During the session, the “New Delhi Declaration of BRICS Leaders” was adopted as the summit’s final document, alongside the issuance of a commemorative postage stamp marking the 20th anniversary of the proposal to establish the group.
The President delivered Egypt’s statement during the closed session.
Following the conclusion of the session, President El-Sisi will join the leaders of participating countries and heads of delegation in touring the exhibition entitled “Twenty Years Since the Launch of BRICS.” The President will also participate in the tree-planting event organized by the Indian BRICS presidency, prior to the taking of the official group photograph of the heads of state, government, and delegation leaders participating in the summit.
