Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received Vice President of Global Exploration at ExxonMobil Mr. Jon Ardill. The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Eng. Karim Badawi, and Chairman and Managing Director of ExxonMobil Egypt Mr. Amr Abou Eita.
The Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, said the President began the meeting by emphasizing that ExxonMobil is a strategic partner of Egypt in the energy sector. President El-Sisi expressed appreciation for the company’s vital role in promoting the oil and gas sector in the Egyptian market, as well as its consistent commitment to engaging and participating in various initiatives and events launched by the Ministry of Petroleum. This reflects the depth of the strategic partnership between the two sides.
During the meeting, President El-Sisi followed-up on the work progress in a number of the company's concession areas, particularly in the Mediterranean region.
President El-Sisi also reviewed prospects for future cooperation between the Egyptian government and the global company, in light of Egypt's rapidly evolving energy sector.
Mr. Jon Ardill offered a detailed presentation on operations of the company's two concession areas in the Mediterranean, the "Cairo" and "Masry" blocks. He highlighted the use of the latest technologies in drilling operations and the intensification of exploration efforts following the completion of the seismic survey, as part of effort to achieve new discoveries that strengthen Egypt's position as a regional energy hub.
Eng. Karim Badawi outlined the available investment opportunities in exploration and development. He reaffirmed that ExxonMobil is one of Egypt’s most prominent international partners in the oil and gas sector due to its advanced expertise and leading technological capabilities.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the President underscored that the Egyptian state places high priority on natural gas exploration projects and is committed to removing obstacles and facilitating necessary procedures to accelerate these projects.
President El-Sisi said that Egypt is looking forward for ExxonMobil to intensify its exploration and development activities, harnessing state-of-the-art techniques in drilling processes to help increase production rates and foster national energy security.
