President El-Sisi Speaks with Ukrainian President Zelenskyy

Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, said the two presidents discussed ways to advance bilateral relations across various fields, particularly the trade and economy.
Both presidents agreed to increase trade between Egypt and Ukraine and explore cooperation opportunities in a number of promising sectors to serve the interests of both peoples.

The call also addressed developments in the Middle East. President El-Sisi highlighted Egypt's ongoing efforts to de-escalate regional tensions, stressing the importance of resolving the current regional tensions through peaceful means to preserve peace and stability in the region. The President called for concerted regional and international efforts to halt the current escalation, taking into account its negative impact on security, stability, and international trade. The Ukrainian President, for his part, commended Egypt's efforts in this regard, noting his alignment with the President's vision regarding the necessity of de-escalating the current tensions.

The Ukrainian President reviewed the latest developments pertinent to the Russian-Ukrainian war and expressed his appreciation for Egypt's commitment to ending the war. In this context, President El- Sisi reiterated Egypt's support for reaching a political settlement to this crisis, expressing Egypt's readiness to provide support for efforts to achieve a political resolution as soon as possible.
