Today, in the French city of Évian, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz on the sidelines of the G7 Summit.
Spokesman for the Presidency Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy said that at the outset of the meeting, President El-Sisi expressed his pride in the trajectory of relations with Germany as a key development partner for Egypt.

The President also commended the ongoing development cooperation programs with the German side and praised the steps taken to boost political consultation and elevate relations to the level of a strategic partnership.

President El-Sisi extended an invitation to the German Chancellor to visit Egypt during the current year to hold further discussions on bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries on issues of mutual interest.
President El-Sisi also reviewed Egypt’s efforts to maintain positive economic growth rates despite international and regional geopolitical challenges. The President reaffirmed Egypt’s interest in expanding cooperation with Germany into non-traditional areas, particularly clean energy and the green transition, as well as vocational training, technical education, and the mobility of skilled labor. Such cooperation would help meet the needs of the German labor market and strengthen pathways for regular migration in a manner that serves the mutual interests of both sides.

The German Chancellor praised the notable momentum in bilateral relations over recent years, especially in the economic and trade spheres, which has further strengthened the close ties between the two friendly countries. He affirmed that Germany views Egypt as a strong partner for both Germany and the European Union in addressing shared challenges and in promoting stability and economic integration across the Mediterranean region. He also expressed his gratitude for the President’s invitation to visit Egypt, looking forward to fulfilling it at the earliest opportunity.

The meeting also tackled a number of regional issues of mutual interest. The two leaders agreed on the importance of supporting peaceful solutions to the crises in the region, particularly the Palestinian cause and the Iranian crisis, in a way that ensures the security and stability of regional countries and preserves the resources and interests of their peoples.

In this context, President El-Sisi reiterated the need to maintain the priority of the Palestinian cause and to implement the second phase of the agreement to end the war in the Gaza Strip. The President highlighted Egypt's ongoing efforts in this regard, in coordination with the United States and mediators, and expressed Egypt’s hope that Germany would support these efforts, ultimately leading to the establishment of a Palestinian state in accordance with the relevant resolutions of international legitimacy.
