President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi performed Fajr (dawn) prayer at Al-Aziz Al-Hakim Mosque in Moqattam, marking the opening of the mosque, in the presence of Prime Minister Dr. Moustafa Madbouly, Minister of Religious Endowments (Awqaf), Dr. Usama Al-Azhari, Cairo Governor Mr. Ibrahim Saber, Head of the Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces Major General Walid Aref, as well as a number of senior state officials and leaders of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif.
The Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, said that upon his arrival President El-Sisi inspected the mosque, which is considered a new beacon and an integrated religious institution that provides various community services to residents of the area. The mosque includes two halls, a nursery for memorizing the Holy Quran, a medical examination center, and a prayer room for women.
The President listened to an explanation from Major General Walid Aref on the construction work carried out by the Authority in the mosque, within the framework of the comprehensive plan adopted by the Ministry of Endowments to replace, renovate, maintain and furnish hundreds of mosques in various governorates. This is also in line with the President’s directives to continue developing the infrastructure of Egypt’s mosques to ensure that they carry out their full mission in consolidating the high moral values necessary for building individuals and safeguarding the homeland.
After performing Fajr prayer, Dr. Usama Al-Azhari delivered a sermon on the occasion of the Night of Al-Isra` and al-Mi’raj (Night Journey and Heavenly Ascension of Prophet Muhammad). During the sermon, he reflected on the profound wisdom and lessons of this divine miracle, and offered his greetings to the President, the Egyptian people, and both the Arab and Islamic nations on this occasion.
