Monday, 19 October 2026 / 03:05 PM

This morning, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi witnessed the inauguration of “Egypt Forum 2026”, held at St. Regis Hotel Convention Centre in the New Capital. The event was attended by Speaker of the House of Representatives Counselor Hisham Badawi; Speaker of the Senate Counselor Essam El-Din Farid; Prime Minister Dr. Moustafa Madbouly; as well as cabinet ministers and senior state officials.

Spokesman for the Presidency Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy said the Forum’s opening session commenced with a recitation from the Holy Qur'an, followed by a documentary film titled "What Do We Expect from the Forum?" This was followed by a segment titled "Where We Began," which featured the screening of a film entitled "If You Met the President, What Would You Tell Him?"

Then, Prime Minister Dr. Moustafa Madbouly delivered a presentation, followed by the screening of a documentary film titled "Egypt in the Eyes of the World" and a presentation titled "What It Means to Be Egyptian." The first segment of the session concluded with a musical performance of the song "Masry" (Egyptian), rendered by the Children’s Choir of the Cairo Opera House, after which the President personally greeted and commended the performing children.

The second segment of the session featured a presentation on "National Identity," followed by the screening of a film entitled "How Awareness Is Guided." This was succeeded by a panel titled "Gen Z: How We Choose Our Sources," a film on "The Negative Impact of Social Media," and a discussion on "Awareness, Misinformation, and Leveraging Technology." Then, a documentary on "Rumors and Their Impact on the Egyptian Internal Front" was screened, followed by a segment on the "Rumors Platform," and concluded with a film titled "The Dream and Reality."

During his intervention in the session, President El-Sisi emphasized that during the preparations for this Forum, priority was accorded to the government’s provision of accurate and comprehensive data, listening to and discussing all perspectives, and welcoming any criticism in this regard. The President reiterated the paramount importance of public awareness and the necessity of confronting attempts to subvert the national memory, particularly on social media platforms. President El-Sisi pointed out that such efforts were actively pursued prior to 2014, stressing that attempts to influence, marginalize, or dismantle the role of a pivotal nation with a large population will continue unabated, describing this as a struggle confronted collectively by the State and its people.

President El-Sisi asserted that his repeated references to the events of 2011 aim to invoke collective memory and heighten awareness, reinforcing the imperative of preserving the Egyptian State particularly for children and youth who did not live through that period. The President noted that while diversity of viewpoints is natural, preserving the State remains an absolute line that cannot be crossed.

The President asserted that the stability achieved in recent years was exacted at a heavy price and sacrifice; noting that Egypt has offered immense sacrifices, chiefly marked by the martyrdom of its sons among the Armed Forces, the Police, the Judiciary, as well as worshipers in mosques and churches, in addition to the substantial financial resources expended to secure stability and combat terrorism. President El-Sisi reiterated the importance of continuously recalling the state of insecurity experienced across the country from 2011 to 2013, reaffirming in this regard that stability must remain deeply rooted in the consciousness of the Egyptian people.

Commenting on the discussions during the session regarding the risks associated with social media use, the President stressed that moderation and balance are required in all matters, particularly given the active attempts to isolate individuals, manipulate public sentiment, and mobilize crowds to destroy their own countries. In this context, President El-Sisi highlighted the responsibility resting upon Egyptian families to strike a balance between embracing technological progress and overseeing their children’s use of various digital platforms.

President El-Sisi asserted that the Forum aims to review all measures implemented across the various sectors of the State and present the status before and after development, while granting citizens the opportunity to closely track the progress achieved within available circumstances and capabilities to address previously intractable problems and to feel reassured about the future of their country. The President confirmed that individuals pass, but Egypt endures.

The President noted that during the past period, the Egyptian people initiated a process of genuine state-building, acknowledging that while every decision entailed high risks, those steps were necessary given the fact that Egypt’s population has grown by nearly thirty million since 2011.

President El-Sisi called upon all citizens to pay close attention throughout the Forum to the specific details and data being presented, given their impact on public life. The President said that the government will present during the Forum's sessions the measures implemented over the past period, contrast them with the scenario had those actions not been taken, and outline future expectations.
