Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with the President of the Republic of Montenegro, Jakov Milatović.
Spokesman for the Presidency Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy stated that the official reception ceremony included the guard of honor performing the official salute, the playing of the national anthems of both countries, and a commemorative photo of the two presidents. This was followed by a bilateral meeting between the two leaders, then an expanded session of talks attended by the delegations of both countries, and a luncheon hosted by President El-Sisi in honor of the visiting president and his accompanying delegation.
President El-Sisi welcomed President Milatović's visit, emphasizing its special significance as the first presidential-level visit since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries following Montenegro's independence in 2006.
The President also underscored Egypt's keenness to explore new avenues for strengthening bilateral relations, particularly in the economic field and through the diversification of trade, capitalizing on the promising opportunities available in both countries. President El-Sisi further highlighted the Montenegrin Parliament’s formation of the Egypt–Montenegro Parliamentary Friendship Group, describing it as an important pillar for bolstering both official and popular ties.
President Milatović expressed his profound pleasure at visiting Egypt and meeting President El-Sisi, praising the generous hospitality and gracious reception. He reaffirmed Montenegro's aspiration to advance bilateral cooperation across areas of mutual interest, and expressed his country's interest in benefiting from Egypt's extensive expertise in tourism, energy, and infrastructure. He also referred to the success of Egyptian investments in Montenegro's tourism sector and expressed his country's interest in expanding their volume and scope into other fields. President Milatović further voiced Montenegro's appreciation for Egypt's efforts in combating irregular migration.
The discussions between the two presidents also tackled a number of regional and international issues of mutual interest. President El-Sisi reviewed Egypt's endeavors to de-escalate tensions in the region and promote peaceful solutions to ongoing crises and conflicts, reiterating the necessity of continued coordination among international partners and encouraging both the United States and Iran to reach a comprehensive and sustainable agreement. The President also reaffirmed Egypt's unwavering support for the sovereignty and stability of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states, reiterating Egypt's categorical rejection of unjustified attacks against Arab countries.
President El-Sisi further outlined Egypt's stance regarding the need to achieve a just resolution to the Palestinian cause based on the two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state in accordance with international legitimacy. The President underscored Egypt's unequivocal rejection of any attempts to displace Palestinians from their land and emphasized the urgent need to rebuild the Gaza Strip and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people.
For his part, President Milatović praised the strong alignment between the positions of the two countries on international crises, grounded in prioritizing diplomatic solutions and joint cooperation over war or the use of force. He also expressed his appreciation for Egypt's efforts under the leadership of President El-Sisi to promote regional security and stability and affirmed Montenegro's support for the two-state solution to the Palestinian cause.
The two presidents agreed that the visit would mark the beginning of a new phase of distinguished bilateral relations and intensified political consultations between their countries, both on bilateral matters and on international issues of mutual interest. In this context, President Milatović extended an invitation to President El-Sisi to visit Montenegro.
