Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call from Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez.
The Spokesman for the Presidency said the call covered both regional and international developments, mainly the situation in the Middle East.
President El-Sisi praised Spain's fair position on the Palestinian issue, especially since the outbreak of the war in the Gaza Strip. The Spanish prime minister stressed the importance of Egypt's role in achieving stability in the Middle East and in combating terrorism and extremism regionally and internationally. This is in addition to Egypt’s key role and its ongoing efforts to reach an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon, access to humanitarian aid, as well as avoiding the escalation of the conflict in the region and turning into a full-scale regional war.
The call also touched on the overall relations between Egypt and Spain. President El-Sisi and Prime Minister Sánchez stressed the importance of further developing them, especially in the economic and investment fields, while seeking the participation of more Spanish companies in development projects in Egypt, in a way that ensures the localization of industry and the promotion of joint manufacturing.
The President reiterated Egypt's solidarity with the government and people of Spain in confronting the effects of the floods that recently swept southeastern Spain, wishing safety for the Kingdom of Spain and its friendly people.
