President El-Sisi Meets Chairman of Suez Canal Authority and Chairman of South Red Sea Shipyard Co.

Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority Admiral Osama Rabie, and Chairman of the South Red Sea Shipyard Company Mr. Mostafa El-Dougishy.

Spokesman for the Presidency Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy stated that, during the meeting, President El-Sisi was briefed on the navigation traffic through the Suez Canal during fiscal year 2025/2026, as well as the progress rates and timetable for launching new marine units over the coming period. 

The President emphasized the necessity of continuing efforts to localize the marine unit manufacturing industry to meet national needs within the Canal and Egyptian ports, support the inland water transport sector, and expand into export markets in partnership with the private sector. The President also directed that the highest quality standards be maintained, the established project timelines be respected, and occupational safety and health requirements be fully implemented, while ensuring the continuous training of technical personnel.

President El-Sisi also followed up on the latest developments regarding the equipment of two fiberglass factories at the Suez Canal Company for Modern Boats, a partnership between the Suez Canal Authority and the South Red Sea Shipyard Company. The President was briefed on the construction of several fiberglass boats, including the completion of the hulls for three cruise launches designed to serve maritime and Nile tourism. 

The meeting also included a review of the implementation status of a project to build a series of twelve deep-sea fishing vessels of the “REZK” class, using the latest global technologies, alongside an update on the manufacturing of a 60-passenger river bus to operate in the Cairo Governorate. Additionally, President El-Sisi followed the construction progress of the 90-ton bollard pull "Azm" class marine tugboats, stressing the vital importance of complying with all quality and safety standards.
