This evening, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with President of Lebanon, Joseph Aoun, on the sidelines of the Extraordinary Arab Summit, which was held in the New Administrative Capital.
Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, said the President emphasized Egypt’s firm and persistent support for Lebanon and for the Lebanese President’s efforts toward achieving stability and security for the Lebanese people.
President El-Sisi confirmed the need to further strengthen cooperation between Egypt and Lebanon across all areas, notably the economic domains. The President highlighted the preparedness of Egyptian companies to effectively and efficiently engage in the development and reconstruction processes in Lebanon. He also stressed Egypt’s willingness to provide all forms of support to enhance the capacity and boost the capabilities of Lebanon’s institutions.
President El-Sisi also affirmed Egypt’s support for the implementation of the ceasefire agreement in Lebanon and of UN Security Council Resolution 1701. The two Presidents reiterated the vital importance of an immediate and full withdrawal of Israeli forces from south Lebanon.
Lebanon’s President expressed appreciation for meeting with President El-Sisi, and valued the brotherly and close relations Egypt and Lebanon share. He also appreciated Egypt’s persistent support for Lebanon and its people. The two Presidents looked forward to forging closer bilateral cooperation between the two countries across all domains.
