Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call from the President of the Republic of The Gambia, Adama Barrow.
The Spokesman for the Presidency, Ambassador Mohamed El-Shennawy, said the call touched on the outstanding relations between the two countries. President El-Sisi affirmed Egypt's keenness to enhance cooperation across various fields, namely trade, investment, and development, as well as to strengthen the partnership in the health sector, building upon the fruitful cooperation that culminated in the opening of the Egyptian medical center in Banjul in December 2025.
The Gambian president expressed his appreciation for the significant progress in relations between the two countries and emphasized his country's interest to further expand joint cooperation so as to serve the interests of both peoples. The two presidents agreed to continue coordinating to enhance cooperation in the fields of development and economy.
The call also touched upon the latest regional developments. President El-Sisi reviewed Egypt's efforts to restore stability in the Middle East and mitigate the repercussions of regional tensions. The two presidents also discussed developments in West Africa and ways to support peace, security, and sustainable development in Africa. President Barrow expressed appreciation for Egypt’s efforts in promoting regional stability and looked forward to boosting coordination between the two countries to maintain peace and security in the region.
