Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly and Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Dr. Khaled El-Anany.
The Spokesperson for the Presidency stated that the meeting reviewed inbound tourism to Egypt and proposals to promote it.
The President gave directives to continue adopting measures to support the tourism sector to face the repercussions resulting from current global developments, including the coronavirus pandemic and the Ukrainian crisis. The President stressed ensuring that tourists, of all nationalities, present in Egypt enjoy all forms of good care and accommodation.
Dr. El-Anany presented the rates of inbound tourism the last year, in which the tourism sector recovered during the last quarter of 2021, in addition to the main tourism exporters to Egypt and the ministry’s most important initiatives to encourage domestic and foreign tourism nationwide. He also referred to the media campaigns launched by the ministry to promote the Egyptian tourist attractions worldwide.
The minister of tourism and antiquities also reviewed the most important developments in the tourism sector in Egypt at present, especially after the outbreak of the Ukrainian crisis, due to the importance of the Russian and Ukrainian markets for the Egyptian tourism sector. This is in addition to reviewing the measures taken with stranded tourists from the two nationalities until they return safely to their countries. This includes Egypt covering the costs of extending their stay, which was praised at the political and media levels.
The meeting also covered means to encourage domestic tourism during the coming period and efforts to increase the number of tourists visiting from alternative tourism markets, especially measures to stimulate aviation, streamline entry visas procedures to Egypt and encourage international travel agencies and tour operators to increase their trips to Egypt.
The Spokesperson added that the meeting also reviewed the ministry’s efforts to support tourism projects in Sharm El Sheikh, as well as developments to achieve green transformation and raise the efficiency of the Internet at various hotels and tourist destinations. This is in addition to the measures taken by the Ministry of Tourism to move towards digital transformation, in coordination and cooperation with all government agencies, as well as developments related to decisions and legislation regulating work in the ministry.
