President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met today with Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Assistant to the President for National and Strategic Projects Eng. Sherif Ismail, Minister of Public Business Sector Mr. Hisham Tawfiq, Minister of Trade and Industry Ms. Nevine Gamea, and Director General of the National Service Projects Organization (NSPO) Major General Mostafa Amin.
The Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency stated that the meeting discussed the efforts to replace imports with domestic products and provide local production requirements for the national industry. The developments in the industrial complexes being established nationwide were also presented.
The President directed that efforts be continued to promote local industrialization and domestic production and localize technology with the aim of providing high-quality products that meet the local market needs primarily, bridging the gap between exports and imports, and achieving self-sufficiency of many industrial inputs.
In addition, the President commanded that the implementation of the plans for establishing industrial complexes nationwide be continued. The national industry represents a locomotive for economic development and increases Egypt’s volume of exports in support of the national economy, the President added
In this context, the President examined the operational steps taken by the ministry, in cooperation and coordination with all concerned government agencies as well as the distinguished expertise of the private sector in Egypt, to encourage dependence on national industry. This aims to maximize local production in several industries, including engineering, chemical, and spinning and weaving industries.
The on-the-ground status of the various industrial cities being established nationwide as well as the industrial complexes under construction and the ones to be launched in all governorates were further presented. Additionally, the follow-up efforts pertaining to the implementation of the target activities in these complexes and the actual achievement rates were showcased.
