President El-Sisi Holds Meeting on Protection of Egyptian Beaches on Mediterranean Coast

Today, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Commander of the Naval Forces Lieutenant General Ahmed Khaled, Head of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority Major General Ehab El-Far, Head of the Armed Forces Financial Affairs Authority Major General Ahmed El-Shazly, and a number of heads of national contracting and construction companies.

The Spokesman for the Presidency stated that the meeting followed up on projects to protect the Egyptian beaches along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea.

The meeting reviewed efforts and measures taken by the state to protect beaches, extending from the Abu Qir to the northwestern coast. This took place with the help of the necessary technical and specialized studies that had been prepared in coordination with the major technical advisory expertise from universities and specialized international companies. Aiming to make better use of the attractive nature of Egyptian coasts, extending north to the Mediterranean Sea, this goes towards the development of the Egyptian state and its national economy, within the framework of the 2030 sustainable development plan.

President El-Sisi instructed to link the efforts to protect the Mediterranean’s coastal beaches and the projects that follow, with the development currently underway in the network of new axes and main roads surrounding the city of Alexandria. This goes in tandem with the existing efforts to link the northwestern coast with the Red Sea, including the Ain Sukhna / El Alamein axis, as per the framework of the comprehensive strategy of the modern infrastructure of the state, particularly the national network of roads, bridges, and the new port system.

The President also highlighted the important role of contracting companies, being considerable economic entities, in carrying out integrated studies to localize the production requirements industry related to their construction activity. This, in turn, goes to support their work, localize the industry, and provide foreign currency, in addition to providing more job and employment opportunities.
