The President Follows up on Land Reclamation Projects of Egyptian Countryside Development Company

President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi met today with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Dr. Mohamed Abdel-Aty, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Mr. Al-Sayed El-Quseir, Advisor to the President for Urban Planning Major General Amir Sayed Ahmed, Director General of the National Service Projects Organization (NSPO) Major General Walid Abul-Magd, and Chairman of Egyptian Countryside Development Company Major General Amr Abdel Wahab.

The Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency stated that the meeting discussed the land reclamation projects carried out by the Egyptian Countryside Development Company.

The status of the “1.5 Million Feddans” project that is being implemented across Egypt within the scope of the Egyptian Countryside Development Company has been discussed. The infrastructure of road, electricity, communication and irrigation networks nationwide, especially in Minya, Manfalut, Toshka, Al-Maghrah, Siwa, Farafra, and Al-Tor, was reviewed during the meeting.

Efforts made over the previous period to develop and maximize benefits of the Egyptian Countryside Development Company were also presented, particularly the application of governance and rational management rules; the establishment of accurate databases to follow-up and monitor the status of lands; the development of a basic system for coding the company’s lands; and the preparation of a comprehensive marketing plan for the company's lands.

The President directed all concerned authorities to explore any current challenges that may have risen and are impeding the progress of the project, particularly with regard to irrigation water supply and quality and infrastructure components, especially those related to roads pavement, electrical feeding systems, and wells development. This is in addition to looking into the localization of other activities on the company’s lands with the aim of making the best use of the project’s productivity.
