President El-Sisi Meets with Prime Minister and Some Ministers

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met today with Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Dr. Ali Al-Moselhi, Minister of Planning and Economic Development Dr. Hala Al-Saeed, Minister of Finance Dr. Mohamed Maait, Minister of Social Solidarity Dr. Niveen Al-Qabbaj, and Minister of Trade and Industry Dr. Nevine Gamea. Deputy Minister of Finance for Public Treasury Dr. Ehab Abu Aish also attended the meeting.

The Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency stated that the President and the ministers discussed, during the meeting, the impact of coronavirus crisis on Egypt’s economic indicators, especially the local consumption rates, and on the sectors of communications, tourism, health and medical care.

In this regard, the impact of coronavirus on the tourism sector at the local and international levels was also discussed. They further addressed the global recession that had far-reaching effects on the supply and demand of several commodities, thus online shopping has significantly increased.

President El-Sisi called for continuing efforts to face the economic challenges arising from the repercussions of the coronavirus pandemic, especially in the most affected economic sectors. His Excellency also directed the concerned officials to provide strategic food products and medical supplies as well as more job opportunities for irregular workers.

During the meeting, the developments of "Homeless Children" Program were also discussed. This program, sponsored by the Ministry of Social Solidarity, addresses the issue of homeless children nationwide through providing care and rehabilitation services. President El-Sisi emphasized on providing further support and finance packages that contribute to integrating homeless children into society in a sound educational and social framework, particularly in the most densely-populated governorates. Coordination among government bodies concerned and civil society institutions was also underpinned by the President.
