President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met today with Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, the ministerial group and officials responsible for Decent Life initiative .
The Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency stated that the meeting discussed the executive position of the national project for the development of the Egyptian countryside within the framework of Decent Life initiative.
The President gives directives to provide all necessary factors to ensure the success of this giant project. He also instructed to unify and coordinate efforts between all the competent government agencies and NGOs in order to achieve the initiative’s main goal, which provides a decent life for every citizen, from the most needy, in the villages of the Egyptian countryside.
The President also directed the provision of all resources, equipments, machines, and manpower from all fields for the benefit of the project, as well as harnessing the country’s potentials either from the business or the private sector. With that, all the requirements will be provided in the project, in its various axes.
In this context, the President was informed of all the axes of the Egyptian Rural Villages Development Project. Which is the largest project of its kind in the world in terms of the volume and diversity of business as well as the proportion of targets, it amounts to more than half of the country’s population. The comprehensive goals of the project seek to improve the developmental and social dimensions and services, for citizens through urgently intervening to develop all aspects of life and its quality, in a total of 4,584 villages and their dependencies. They are inhabited by about 58% of the total population of Egypt. The project has a cost estimation of 700 billion egp. This will be done within a large-scale government move that is carried out with the integration of all state agencies and private sector institutions as well as the development partners in Egypt.
The geographical distribution of the 52 centers ,which are targeted, and the main interventions to achieve a comprehensive development in each center were also presented along with the main axes related to services, facilities, infrastructure, economic development, social interventions, and the provision of decent housing.
Some plans related to the facilities and infrastructure axis were presented during the meeting particularly sanitation, drinking water networks, lining canals, drainage rehabilitation, electricity and public lighting, and developing rural homes within the framework of decent housing.
For the services sector, the construction of hospitals, health units, family medicine units, ambulance pickup points, medical convoys, and educational buildings were tackled along with the execution work of the unified government service complexes sites, which will be built in a modern and mechanized style. In this context, all the old lands and buildings used in this framework, will be reused, after their evacuation.
For the social and cultural sector, several plans were presented to develop youth centers and post offices as well as to renovate and maintain the worship places to raise their efficiency. In addition, the plans for family and child services as well as special needs services, community awareness, and the development of cultural palaces were discussed.
For the economic sector, programs for financing micro and small enterprises in the villages, supporting traditional crafts, building agricultural complexes, and developing banking services were presented.
