El-Sisi Meets the Prime Minister and Several Officials

Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met today with the Prime Minister, Dr. Moustafa Madbouli, Minister of Planning, Minister of Local Development, Governor of Damietta, Chairman of the Administrative Control Authority, Chairman of the Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Damietta City for furniture as well as President of Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency.

The Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency, said that the meeting followed up the current executive position of Damietta Furniture City, which will represent the largest integrated industrial city for furnishing and woodworking industries in Africa and the Middle East, taking into account the city’s ideal location for it is near to the searports of Damietta and PortSaid and its visibility on the international coastal road.

In this regard, the President called for perfectly managing the city to support local furniture industry so that the city will be the main marketing interface in this regard inside and outside Egypt, as well as maximizing foreign investment opportunities in the city so as to be a gateway to exporting the furniture manufactured in Egypt to the African and Arab countries. His excellency also emphasized on upgrading vocational and technological training in the furniture industry.

The officials reviewed the various stages of the implementation of Damietta furniture project, which was built on 331 feddans according to the highest quality standards for facilities and buildings, as well as the process of making workshops in the city for sale.

The meeting also witnessed the presentation of the added strategic value expected to be provided by Damietta to the state, including the acquired momentum for the furniture and wood industries and the development of means of marketing and trading furniture internally to increase from 12 billion pounds annually to about 35 billion pounds, in addition to increasing the Egyptian exports of wooden industries from $ 360 million annually to about $ 2 billion, as well as creating nearly 100,000 new job opportunities.
