President El-Sisi Meets with PM, Ministers and Officials

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met today with Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Assistant to the President for National and Strategic Projects, Eng. Sherif Ismail, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Mohamed Abdel-Aty, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Mr. Al-Sayed El-Quseir, Presidential Advisor for Urban Planning Major General Amir Sayed Ahmed, Director General of the National Service Projects Organization (NSPO) Major General Mostafa Amin, Chairman of the Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces Major General Ihab Al-Far, and Head of the Chairman of the Sinai Development Authority Major General Mohamed Shawky Rashwan.

The Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency stated that the meeting discussed the status of the national project for agriculture and land reclamation in central and north Sinai.

In this context, President El-Sisi directed the officials concerned to further comprehensive development efforts in the Sinai Peninsula, especially land reclamation projects aimed at increasing agricultural land plots in central and northern Sinai and establishing development and residential communities.

These projects are implemented within the framework of the State's comprehensive strategy to expand integrated agriculture and land reclamation at the level of the Republic.

These efforts are exerted in complementarity with other similar projects, especially in the New Delta in northwest of the country, Toshka and East Owainat in the South Valley.

The President also directed that the latest equipment and machinery be provided to reclaim the targeted lands in Sinai, explore the best agricultural activities, and apply the cutting-edge irrigation methods to make optimum economic use of water and double production in quantity and quality.

The Spokesman stated that during the meeting, the status of the targeted agricultural lands in North and Central Sinai was presented with a view to establishing the national project for integrated agriculture in that region, in coordination between the various state agencies. The inventory and study of data on the surveying and nature of the soil were further highlighted, alongside the achievement rates already made in the previously-allocated lands.

Efforts to implement the necessary infrastructure to provide water resources for the project, including water flow pathways in the targeted agricultural areas. Furthermore, efforts to make use of the available treated agricultural drainage water were presented.
