President El-Sisi Meets with PM, Minister of Housing and Presidential Adviser for Urban Planning

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met today with Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities Dr. Assem El-Gazzar, and Presidential Adviser for Urban Planning Major General Amir Sayed Ahmed.

The Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency stated that the meeting addressed the implementation status of the projects of the Ministry of Housing nationwide, especially new cities. The development of slum areas, social housing, neighborhoods and regions in Cairo and the efforts to provide water through a network of water treatment and desalination plants nationwide, were further tackled.

The President was briefed on the proposal of the "Greater Disclosure over the Land of Peace" in the sacred area in Sinai in the vicinity of Moses (Gebel Musa) and St. Catherine Mountains. The President gave directives for well-studying the infrastructure of the project in coordination with all concerned government agencies so that the project would place a spiritual value on humanity as a whole.

Dr. Assem El-Gazzar presented the measures undertaken by the Ministry of Housing in cooperation with the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation to alleviate the water deficit and improve water quality. The President gave directives for expanding in this field as part of the state’s strategy that includes establishing projects for water treatment and desalination plants with a total value of EGP 435 billion in addition to other projects to rationalize water consumption and reduce water loss.

Possessing the technical capacity for localizing the technology of water treatment and desalination plants was underpinned by the President as they are significant and supportive of the state's efforts in this vital field.

The President also emphasized on intensifying efforts to develop the regions and neighborhoods of Cairo in an integrated manner so that an accurate perception, in this regard, for all the structural, engineering, social and financial details will be shaped.

The Spokesman added that the Minister of Housing also discussed the state’s efforts to support and establish social housing projects, especially through “Housing All Egyptians” project in new cities across Egypt, which comes as an implementation of the President’s initiative to provide a housing unit for every citizen.
