President El-Sisi Meets with PM and Minister of Electricity

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Dr. Mohamed Shaker.

President El-Sisi was briefed on the efforts aimed to modernize and develop the national electricity network in Egypt with all its infrastructure components, starting from power stations and distribution networks to the process of supplying residential units and others with electricity. These efforts are exerted to make Egypt possess, as per the President’s directives, a comprehensive state-of-the-art national electricity network to ensure a safe and fast transmission of electricity with minimal energy wastage and highest quality.

President El-Sisi called for continuing the efforts aimed at developing the governance of the management system of the electricity services, in a manner that ensures the accommodation of increased consumption and improvement of the services provided to citizens nationwide. These efforts are made in harmony with the automation process and the use of smart, prepaid meters to improve the collection mechanisms and develop services.

The Spokesman added that the meeting also discussed the developments of the electricity network in the New Administrative Capital. Dr. Mohamed Shaker presented the executive position of the construction of ultra-high voltage cable tunnels, which are carried out by the Egyptian expertise.

The latest developments in electrical interconnection projects with Saudi Arabia and Jordan as well as the triple interconnection project between Egypt, Jordan and Iraq were presented. These projects integrate with the state’s efforts to develop Sinai; they are used for establishing the infrastructure for the regional electrical interconnection, thus contributing to the development of electricity supply networks in developmental communities in Sinai.

The President called for strengthening efforts to implement electrical interconnection projects with the neighboring countries in the region, in light of the common interests they achieve and the good management of electric energy to make the utmost use of it throughout the year, whether through local consumption or exports between countries linked to the interconnection networks.
