President El-Sisi Meets with PM, Minister of Health and Several Ministers

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi met today with Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Health and Population Dr. Hala Zayed, Presidential Advisor for Health and Prevention Affairs Dr. Mohamed Awad Taj El-Deen, Chairman of the Egyptian Authority for Unified Procurement Major General Dr. Bahaa El-Din, General Manager of the International Medical Center Major General Dr. Mostafa Abou Hatab and Director of the Medical Services Department of the Armed Forces Major General Dr. Magdy Amin.

The Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency stated that, during the meeting, the developments of the national project for the assembly and manufacture of plasma derivatives were presented. Moreover, the President followed up on the general situation of the coronavirus spread and several national projects in the health sector.

The officials showcased the steps made by the concerned authorities regarding the project of manufacturing and assembling plasma derivatives in partnership with the great foreign expertise in this field. Moreover, the results of the studies on establishing blood collection centers nationwide were presented.

President El-Sisi emphasized on establishing the project in accordance with the highest international standards so that Egypt would work efficiently in this vital field that has a direct impact on the health and safety of citizens.

Dr. Hala Zayed presented the latest developments in the epidemiological situation of coronavirus across Egypt and the control efforts made by the state, including the third phase of clinical trials for the vaccine that are being conducted. She also tackled quarantine procedures, medical examination at entry points and airports in tourist governorates, and the precautionary measures which will be taken during the events that are due to be held in Egypt over the coming period, most notably the parliamentary elections and the World Men's Handball Championship.

The President instructed the medical sector to prepare for any possible second wave of coronavirus, especially as a new academic year is beginning. In this context, the President emphasized on fostering solidarity among all the basic competent elements; i.e. ministries and education departments/ administrations and facilities to ensure the highest levels of safety for students and education staff and the continuity of intensive awareness campaigns launched, in this regard, among families and all citizens.

The Minister of Health also presented the implementation status of the comprehensive health insurance system in the governorates of the first phase, which had previously been launched in Port Said, the Spokesman said. Future steps and the designated time-frame were also introduced in this regard for the inclusion of the rest of the governorates in the system.

The President gave directives for accelerating steps to include the governorates of the first phase into the comprehensive health insurance system and adhering to the basic determinants, foremost among which is performance efficiency, high-quality service, and the regular flow of financial resources of the system.

The meeting also discussed the results of implementing various presidential initiatives within the framework of the state’s efforts to improve public health, under the umbrella of 100 Million Seha (100 Million Healthy Lives) and the goals that have been achieved nationwide, especially with regard to treating Hepatitis C virus (HCV), supporting the health of Egyptian women and curing non-communicable diseases, conducting critical surgeries and providing surgical critical care.

The President gave directives for providing the necessary financial resources to expand the efforts of various presidential initiatives in the field of public health as they directly impact the health and safety of citizens of all age groups.
