Dr. Khaled El-Anany presented the state of tourism during the current period and the measures taken by the government to promote Egyptian tourist destinations in order to utilize the unique and diverse potentials Egypt possesses, particularly at the outset of the winter tourism season. Coordination efforts between various ministries and relevant authorities to ensure the recovery of the tourism sector in an effective manner after the repercussions of the coronavirus pandemic were also discussed. Some of these efforts resulted in having direct flights between the cities of Luxor and Sharm El Sheikh, with the aim of linking archaeological and coastal tourism, in a manner that integrates the new road and railway networks connecting different governorates and tourist destinations.

President El-Sisi directed that the number of medical crews stationed at airports in tourist cities be increased so as to carry out PCR tests for foreign tourists who wish to get tested. The President also called for continuing coordination and integration between all concerned bodies at the state level to ensure smooth travel experience and best services for the tourists. This shall be done in cooperation with those investing in tourism.

The Minister of Tourism and Antiquities also presented the status of a number of archaeological projects that are to open soon and the organization efforts made for the major promotional event for Luxor, part of the celebration of unveiling the "Road of Rams". This comes after establishing projects that aim to develop tourism infrastructure in the governorate, such as the visual identity, the corniche which has been developed, and facilities and buildings whose efficiency has been raised.

President El-Sisi stressed that the celebration should represent a continuation of the series of events that are organized by the state that promote Egypt’s soft power and ancient civilization, on top of which is The Pharaohs’ Golden Parade. He added that it should reflect the richness of the governorate of Luxor as an integrated global tourist destination at the global scale.

The Spokesman added that Dr. Khaled Enany also presented the efforts to develop the ministry's resources, as well as the measures it took to develop the administrative system in a comprehensive manner through the adoption of digital transformation programs. Examples of so would be the digitization of licenses provided for tourist and hotel establishments and services provided to visitors and tourists.

The Minister also presented the international activity of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, including its participation in international tourism exhibitions. In this regard, he referred to his recent visit to the UNESCO headquarters and his meeting with officials headed by its Director-General, where he showcased the state’s efforts in the dossier of antiquities and museums.
