President El-Sisi Meets with Eni’s CEO

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received today Mr. Claudio Descalzi, Chief Executive Officer of Eni, an Italian energy company. Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Eng. Tarek El-Molla among other senior officials of the company attended the meeting.

During the meeting, they followed up on the activities of Eni in the field of gas and oil exploration and production in Egypt, the Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency stated.

The President praised the fruitful cooperation Egypt has with Eni. His Excellency stressed his support for the company to continue expanding its investment in Egypt in the fields of exploration and production. The President further commended the company’s full commitment in implementing its projects and emphasized on the importance Egypt attaches to the development of this vital sector. His Excellency called for further enhancing cooperation with Eni and for removing any obstacles that may face its business.

Mr. Descalzi expressed his sincere appreciation and gratitude for President El-Sisi’s stance in support of Italy during the difficult period it has gone through since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic. He praised, in this regard, the successful precautionary measures taken by the state on the sites of various oil and gas production projects. Thus, work in these fields is carried on and the production capacity remains the same thanks to these measures. Eni’s CEO said that Egypt is a key partner for the Italian company; thus, he looks forward to further developing and growing its activity in Egypt in the fields of exploration and production, especially in the western region and the Red Sea.
