President El-Sisi received, today, Mr. Nick Read - CEO and chair of the executive committee of Vodafone Group, Egyptian Prime Minister, Minister of Communication and Information Technology and CEO of Vodafone Egypt.
The Spokesman also stated that the meeting looked over cooperation with Vodafone Global Group in the sector of communication and information technology.
During the meeting His Excellency clarified the keenness of the Egyptian State for a fruitful and constructive cooperation with international companies that have long and strong experiences in all fields to be Egypt’s development partners. This comes as a result of Vodafone Group extensive experience in the fields of communication, digitization and the reliance on modern technological systems in running new cities and facilities, which are a cornerstone of Egypt’s outlook towards digitalization and comprehensive development.
From his side, Mr. Read – CEO of Vodafone Group – assured that what Egypt is currently witnessing through its comprehensive development process and national mega-projects in all fields reflected in an obvious and positive manner on the investment environment and opportunities. This positive outcome encourages Vodafone Group to expand its operation in telecommunication and information technology within the region, along applications supporting urban work systems and smart services; in a manner that would contribute in the financial inclusion process, achieving sustainable development, developing the system of services provided to the citizens and increasing employment opportunities.
The CEO also clarified that the balanced and wise path Egypt adopted to deal with the COVID-19 Pandemic contributed significantly in preserving economic, commercial and services activities while achieving positive gross domestic product (GDP) growth unlike most countries across the globe, including the major countries. The CEO also added that Vodafone Group will explore the opportunity of testing the new 5th generation (5G) activities in the New Administrative Capital as it is equipped with the latest technological infrastructure, along hosting the “Information University” which is considered the only one in the Middle East and Africa.
The Spokesman also added that the meeting explored enhancing cooperation with Vodafone Group and increase its investments in the telecommunication sector in Egypt, especially now the Egyptian market is providing massive opportunities along the various initiative launched by the State in the past few years to push for a qualitative leap in the community through the localization of technology and elevate the levels of electronic production and designs as well as the modernized infrastructure Egypt now enjoys.
